We went to Teak Cliff cavern today in Castleton, Derbyshire.
I used to go there as a kid with my mum and dad and sister, but hadn't been back for......oooh... over 30 years!!!. Way, way too long I think!
It really was breathtaking....the view, and the steep climb up to the cavern! That was about half way up !
Breathing in FRESH COOL AIR.... it was so uplifting and calming.....and QUIET !
Being with those you love the most......I could have stood here all day.....daydreaming of living here...walking the dogs everyday.....sketching....making....cooking.....being with my family....x

Long time no blogging!
Happy New Year !!!
I haven't blogged for quite a while, life just gets in the way sometimes and I have had a lot of ups and downs at home.
Now the water is calmer I shall hopefully make good use of this blogging tool !!
It is SO mild outside, if quite damp and muddy, I stepped outside onto the decking and all I could hear were lots and lots of birds singing their little hearts out, the air was alive with singing and tweeting.....of course you cannot hear it from the photo!!!
We have a wild bit of garden that leads to a river, after the kids swings, which is lovely, but quite bare at this time of year, and we have a long log pile, we get snakes in the garden, so I am sure there will be a few hiding in there! Inspiration to get your creative mind flowing !!
For 2012 I have made myself an apron, I decided I needed a 'work' uniform. Something I can wear to get me in the creative zone and away from home and distractions!! I guess I could have bought a boiler suit, that would be practical but I have never seen a floral one.....now there's an idea!!!
My apron has NO pockets because if my hands are in them I will not be working!!!!
Its a very simple apron but just the job, and there will be absolutely NO cooking done in this one!!!
I was the very lucky recipient, recently of a lovely bunch of roses from my O.H !! they were beautiful.
And so pretty in the lovely blue jug I inherited from my Grandma Edna ! XXX

Bestfriends
My little best friend in the whole world has Cushings Disease, hence the bald patch on his tummy where he had his scan. Mr Muffin (nickname!) is 14 years old and has seen me through thick and thin, I had him before I had the kids, so we go back a LONG way.
His best dog friend, Miss HRH, is not amused he is so tired for most of the time but they still like a cuddle up now and again, and yes I let them on the sofa.....sometimes!
He gets quite cold sometimes so thought it best that I crochet him a little coat, not quite finished yet, I am not the fastest crocheter in the land esp with the kids running around!

I have not made a crochet dog coat before so I am making it up as I go along, whatever it ends up looking like I am sure it will help keep Mr Muffin warm indoors! Photo of coat finished to follow shortly!.

A bit of a Yarn !!
At the end of the garden slowly flowed the river, willow branches swaying and dipping softly into the clear water, damsel flies resting on the bright sun-like yellow marsh marigolds.
Hanging on a willow branch I saw a large old key.
I took the key and began to hear a bird song, a tune, a twinkly, tinkle tonkle tune that seemed to dance off every leaf.
I turned and there in amongst the trees and shrubs was a large wooden house, adorned with trails of ivy, climbing white roses and perfect little birds nests upon the windowsill.
I was led by the strange heavenly song to open the door with the key....I stepped into the house only to find the song grew louder, like there were a hundred winged angels singing with light....
And there, sat at her desk was the Riverfinch Witch of Riverfinch Hall, maker and dream weaver of beautiful things. On her shoulder sat a large white finch with wings made of wide, wet rainbows...
How could I have not noticed before?
The Riverfinch Witch smiled and as the singing stopped she said,
'I have always been here, waiting for you, for I am part of you and you are part of the river and the trees, flowing and drifting, clear and muddy, blowing and still, swaying and bending, creating and growing'.
The Riverfinch Witch took my hand and in it she placed a needle and gold thread and a handful of beads... and whispered gently in my ear a secret.......
And although I cannot tell you the secret, I can tell you that she asked me to, 'Use it, make it, weave it, stitch it, and be brave with it'.
Maybe we all have a Riverfinch Witch waiting for us somewhere, we just have to find the right key....
Just want to say a BIG thank you to Bee Happy for becoming my first follower and taking time to leave a lovely comment !!
( I have tried to reply to your comment but google won't let me for some peculiar reason !!)
Thank you X
